Meaningful Teenager Safari in Kenya                     


8th April – 18th April 2017

Meaningful safari – a different kind of safari! You will experience the traditional safari, driving through the national park of this magnificent country and seeing the range of animals the nature has to offer.


An informative tour with a lot of fun activities. Tailored youth accompanied by an adult. We guarantee this will be an unique experience. A theme throughout the 10-days-trip is to learn and see various aspects of Kenya; African wildlife, beautiful nature, wonderful people and exotic tribe-culture.

On arrival (you are met by your safari driver guide whom you will find waiting for you at the international arrival wing. In a distance you will notice a meeting board displayed with your groups name, Flamingosafari,(YOUTH). You will be transferred to your guesthouse for check-in and a short briefing from Daniel.


Day 1, Kawangware Lutheran Church,  Samaritan Childrens Home and FlamingoSafari`s 10 years anniversary 9th April 2017

Church services in Africa is something you must not miss. We will today visit Kawangware Lutheran Church where we meet our friends Douglas and Paul from The Conquerors band. They run programs within music, children and youth activities. They are also responsible for a food station for orphans here in the church compound. Douglas and Paul will be with us for several days as tour guides and responsible for local cultural activities – in this Meaningful Teenager Safari.


We will have lunch at a nice Chinese restaurant – For You -  before we visit Samaritan Childrens home in Mathare slum.  Almost 200 children live in this home. Here it´s good to bring clothes, exercise school books, pens and food. We plan to sing and have fun with the children.


In the evening we will have dinner and celebration of Flamingo Safari`s 10 years at Dari restaurant entertained by The Conquerors band.

Day 2 - 6, Katulani Village from 10th April – 14th April

Today we are going to Kitui. We will visit The Maasai Ostrich farm on the way. The distance is 160 km. We will have lunch at Peoples Park in Machacos.

On arrival we will be taken for sightseeing by foot in Kitui Town. From Kitui up to Flamingo farm in Katulani it is 30 minutes drive. In the afternoon we will go through the program and arrangement for our days at Flamingo Farm and Katulani Village.


In Katulani we will meet a group of youth and the whole group will split into teams. The teams will get different tasks and participate in different activities. E.g.

 

-A day in the school

-In the market

-Sports activities

-African songs and dance

-Home visit

-Other day to day activities


The Kenya – Norway exchange program will be lead by Douglas Masheti and Paul Gandu from The Conquerors.

Day 7, Kitui - Mt. Kenya, 15th April 2017

Today at 6am we say bye to our friends in Flamingo Farm and start our drive up to Mt Kenya. This is the highest mountain in Kenya and the second highest in Africa. The roads are good and the scenery beautiful. In this area we have pineapple and coffee plantations.


On arrival the first afternoon we will have the possibility to do horse riding, bicycling or other activities.

Day 8, Full day Game drive in Ol Pejeta Ranch, 16th April 2017

Today we will have full day in Ol Pejeta private ranch. This is a Rhino sanctuary whereby you can touch these huge creatures with your own hands. Also you will visit Chimpanzee Orphanage but of course you cannot touch them, because they are very much protected. In Ol Pejeta range you can see all the Big five animals; Lion, Elephant, Rhino, Leopard, Buffalo – of course all depending on your luck.  Here you can read moer about the Northern Wide Rihno.

Day 9, Ol Pejeta - Nairobi 17th April 2017

Today we leave at 7:30am and drive back to Nairobi with a medium distance to cover Appx 250 km. On the way you will pass through small and large scale of farmers. We will stop in a town called Nyeri and visit the grave-yard of Lord Baden Powell. He was from England and the founder of Scout movement. He lived and died in Kenya. We will stop for lunch at Chania falls in Thika.


After lunch we drive to Nairobi and we will do the final preparations for your flight back home to Norway at Ole Sereni Hotel. You have to be at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport 2 hours before departure time.

Day 10, Be in Norway by 18th April 2017
